Project purpose and need
To help extend the life of County-maintained roads, micro-surfacing is applied in order to help preserve and protect the underlying pavement structure and provide a new driving surface.
Project description (what is the project)
As a part of Roads and Airport’s yearly Pavement Maintenance Program, the contractor will be applying a micro-surfacing treatment to a number of roads throughout the County. Micro-surfacing is a protective seal coat which extends the life of pavement. It is a thin, tough layer of asphalt emulsion blended with finely crushed stone for traction. This is a cost-effective method to renew the road surface and seal minor cracks and other irregularities.
